MARCH RESIDENTS.

This March, One Flew East will be setting up shop in Oxford Art Factory with a residency in the Gallery Bar. Coming off the back of a Playground Weekender performance and the launch of their Debut EP "Panic Notes", the funk/rock four piece have enlisted the talents of some sweet-as-meat supports to light the party fuse each week. March 5 sees singer/songwriter David Haack in full band mode, while March 19 will feature Canberra golden boys, Hancock Basement (Winners of the JJJ Unearthed Trackside competition). Packing the funk & the fireworks, The Domestics will help bring the residency to a crotch-tingling conclusion (the good kind) on March 26.

From 8pm. Entry is FREE.
One Flew East's "Panic Notes" EP is available now on iTunes.

HOT MESS!

Hot. Mardi Gras. Tranny. Mess.

Friday 5th March marks a one off extravaganza at Oxford Art Factory called HOT MESS! Hosted by colourful club legends MC Gaff E, Justin Shoulder and Elvis Di Fazio, presenting London's finest performance artists, bringing inspiration and a new light to the word party like Sydney's never seen before.

The Hot Mess! Trannies are a collective of four of London’s alternative drag, club and party hosts. Each has individually helped define what’s red hot on London’s underground scene working closely with the Horse Meat Disco team. The Hot Mess! trannies DJ mash-up electro, pop, nu disco and whatever rocks the party, paired with nu-MCs and choreographed spontaneous shows.

Numbers include a Victorian-esque/disco mix of Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary’; a Tranny gang turf war to Janet Jackson’s ‘What Have You Done For Me Lately’; Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’ alt/trans style; and an exploration of dance, movement and space invaders in Blondie’s ‘Rapture’. The looks are wild, reckless and stunning. Their approach to partying is simple. This is an infamous preening package of crazy-trans rock and roll, and everyone is invited!

Hot Mess! promises to be a night of mind blowing excitement and over the top fun from a collective of creative genius' who will combine their powers performing, dressing up and playing a unique electric blend of dazzling music in what will most certainly go down in legend as the most spectacular night over Mardi Gras to date.

For this hot mess extravaganza, the special lineup will include the infamous London Horse Meat Disco trannies; Jonny Woo, Ryan Styles, John Sizzle and Feral. Along with local stars MC Gaff E, Gus Da Hoodrat, Justin Shoulder, Dallas Dellaforce, Seymour Butz, Regrette, Marcus King, Drugmoney and Gay Bash DJs- National Treasure, Perfect Snatch and Sirens live in action strutting their stuff with visuals by Elvis Di Fazio - bringing the attitude MORE is MORE!

THE CREAM OF AUSTRALIAN STREET ART.

PHIBS from Keep Moving on Vimeo.

This month, we were very fortunate to have Australian icon of street art, Phibs, paint the gallery wall at the Oxford Art Factory.

An interesting part of the process of an ever-changing wall, but one we don't often get the chance to share, is watching artists get their work up. We've seen a lot of different techniques, some more impressive than others - but Phibs blew away everyone who visited the venue while he was paintng. Watching him push images out of his brain and onto the wall was pretty special.

The good news for you is that our good friends from Keep Moving popped in to tape one section of the wall going up.

Make sure you visit the gallery during April to see the finished piece.

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS!

The Oxford Art Factory is looking for new DJs with innovative taste in music. We are on the look out for real bedroom bangers, DJs who have had little or no experience playing in front of a crowd.

We want the bedroom to come to the Oxford Art Factory, we want to witness the jams that go down in the privacy of your own homes. The Oxford Art Factory loves new music, and old music, and hearing old music played in a way that makes it feel new. We're not hung up on genres or technical wizardry, we're just after your premium jams.

If you'd like to get a gig at the OAF, please submit a LIVE mix, with track listing, and your name (and DJ name, if you have one), your email address and phone number.

You can post CDs to DEMO / OXFORD ART FACTORY, 38-46 Oxford St, Darlinghurst, NSW, 2010, or email a link to download your mix to demo@oxfordartfactory.com.

DJs who have played in other venues need not apply for this as we are only looking for fresh talent with this drive.

We may not be able to get back to everyone who submits a mix, but we promise that everything will get a listen.
