AFTER WORK ART
After Work Art is the new best way to say goodbye to your Friday. The Oxford Art Factory throws open its doors at the post-work-friendly hour of 7pm every Friday night, and warmly invites you in for a drink.
Entry is free, and the OAF is laying on bands in the gallery bar nice and early. Also on offer are some of the cheapest jugs of beer and cocktails you're likely to find on Oxford St. The OAF student discount passport, 'Das Kleine Buch' will be valid until 11pm. The bands will be playing two sets, there will be movies, couches galore, and wireless internet access for the less socially inclined.
For the month of June we have lined up a stellar residence from young funk band The Domestics.
Now you have even more reasons to look forward to Friday night!
THE SALVAGERS.
Hailing from Sydney and in their early twenties, The salvagers are a band that combines rock with live electronics and multiple vocalists into a unique sound that is fast earning the four-piece a dedicated fan base and reputation for energetic live shows.
The band have also consolidated buzz in their hometown by gaining rotation on FBi radio. In mid-2008 the band, which were then known as 'Cut Sic' signed with Forum 5 management/recordings and began developing their debut album.
In late 2008, The salvagers went into Electric avenue studios with Sydney-based UK producer Lee Groves (Goldfrapp, Depeche Mode, Bertie Blackman) to record their debut album. The record is currently being mixed in the UK by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyrol) and is due for release in late 2009. trumpet, all underpinned by infectious rhythms.

YELLOW BRICK ROAD.
Yellow Brick Road is the new weekly night breaking in the PA in the Oxford Art Factory's Gallery Bar.
Previous weeks have seen the blossoming of an event which promises to be one of the better mid-week parties in Sydney - free entry, cheap booze and some of Sydney's best young talent have proved a winning formula so far.
With so much on offer and so little asked in return, we see no excuse to stay at home on Wednesday night. Come down and support some great local talent at Yellow Brick Road.

EXCHANGES CORPSE.
On Friday September 11th Sydney’s demonic Hydra of the arts, Exquisite Corpse heads South of the border to launch a fiery affair of outstanding Sydney and Melbourne live music!
Located at Carlton's grand and newly revamped Curtin Bandroom, the split bill will take turns to share with another and a lucky audience some of the very best DIY from both cities! The night's promising theatrics will also be met and enhanced with stunning live visuals by Sydney artist Tara Cook.
The following week, back in its natural habitat; Exquisite Corpse is proud to present the work of four of Melbourne's finest for a wild night of noise and deafening surprises. In its usual setting, also expect a new performance; 'Moon Juice' by Ben Wilson, Sarah Pickering and Hugh Stewart, as well as original, abstract and absurd live visuals by Sydney artist and filmmaker Joel Burrows.
Both events and all hell in-between to be filmed and documented by Jaie Gonzalez.

PSYCH.
Hailing from Sydney's Inner West, on the crest of what can only be called a neo-psychedelic tsunami happening in Sydney at the moment... these guys channel bands like The Church, Spacemen 3 and Slowdive and spit it out in a raw, delay drenched fuzz fest that is seriously excellent and trance inducing psychedelic rock of the highest order.
The home brewed production values lend their recordings an air of authenticity sadly lacking in a lot of the bigger budget, label brand releases of late. This is how it's meant to sound!
Recommended for fans of bands like Deerhunter or Atlas Sound, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ride or My Bloody Valentine - don't miss The Prayer Circle's August residence at the Oxford Art Factory.

Hey! A reminder for all you bonafide genuine students out there!
Don’t forget that the OAF is offering you substantial discounts from Wednesday through to Sunday with its 'Das Kleine Buch' discount passport. The passport offers the bearer really cool discounts on all kinds of drinks and jugs! Just a small show of appreciation for all of you out there that can’t necessarily afford to pay full price for drinks; let alone study books etc.
In order to secure one for yourself, all you have to do is bring along a passport sized photo of yourself and your student ID card, visit our cloakroom person on any Friday or Saturday, and request your own copy of Das Kleine Buch.
P.S. We know that organising a passport photo can be hard work, so we just installed a photo booth in the Gallery. Stop in and get your mug slapped on your very own Das Kleine Buch this weekend!
Happy drinking and remember – always drink responsibly!
Cheers from the OAF. xo

THE CREAM OF AUSTRALIAN STREET ART.
This month, we were very fortunate to have Australian icon of street art, Phibs, paint the gallery wall at the Oxford Art Factory.
An interesting part of the process of an ever-changing wall, but one we don't often get the chance to share, is watching artists get their work up. We've seen a lot of different techniques, some more impressive than others - but Phibs blew away everyone who visited the venue while he was paintng. Watching him push images out of his brain and onto the wall was pretty special.
The good news for you is that our good friends from
Keep Moving popped in to tape one section of the wall going up.
Make sure you visit the gallery during April to see the finished piece.
The Oxford Art Factory is looking for new DJs with innovative taste in music. We are on the look out for real bedroom bangers, DJs who have had little or no experience playing in front of a crowd.
We want the bedroom to come to the Oxford Art Factory, we want to witness the jams that go down in the privacy of your own homes. The Oxford Art Factory loves new music, and old music, and hearing old music played in a way that makes it feel new. We're not hung up on genres or technical wizardry, we're just after your premium jams.
If you'd like to get a gig at the OAF, please submit a LIVE mix, with track listing, and your name (and DJ name, if you have one), your email address and phone number.
You can post CDs to DEMO / OXFORD ART FACTORY, 38-46 Oxford St, Darlinghurst, NSW, 2010, or email a link to download your mix to demo@oxfordartfactory.com.
DJs who have played in other venues need not apply for this as we are only looking for fresh talent with this drive.
We may not be able to get back to everyone who submits a mix, but we promise that everything will get a listen.
ANYWHERE BUT HOME.
Peep the new Cassette Kids film clip, filmed at the OAF.
