INTRODUCTION

The Oxford Art Factory is a two room, multi-functional venue that has re-shaped entertainment in Sydney. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York during the 60’s, the venue will create a cultural focal point for international and local artists, providing them with a world-class platform from which to showcase their talents to an estimated weekly audience of over 4,500 people.

The Oxford Art Factory is more than just an impressive space. It is an informed response to Sydney’s desire for a dynamic new entertainment experience. From the unique interior fit-out to bar operations, entertainment bookings to marketing, every component of The Oxford Art Factory will draw upon the experience of industry leaders to ensure that the project realizes its full vision.

CONCEPT

The Oxford Art Factory aims to work as a three-tiered enterprise, comprised of ‘The Gallery’, ‘The Art after Dark Bar’ and ‘The Live Art Space’. Each area of the venue has the capacity to work as a stand-alone entity whilst also operating as a combined and coherent business. As its name suggests, ‘art’ provides the framework for this venue concept, and throughout it creates a showcase for visual art, performance art and live music

THE GALLERY

The Gallery is defined as the wall space located immediately down the stairs from the front entrance. The Gallery is a space for quality Australian and international artists to exhibit work. While the surrounding Surry Hills and Darlinghurst areas are buzzing with a vibrant and sophisticated art scene, Oxford Street itself has no real focal point for this community and The Gallery seeks to create exactly that.

THE ART AFTER DARK BAR

The Art after Dark Bar is defined as the entire floor area immediately below the stairs at the entrance, separated from The Live Art Space by an interconnecting wall. The Art after Dark Bar is defined as the entire floor area immediately below the stairs at the entrance, separated from The Live Art Space by an interconnecting wall. The Art after Dark Bar provides a fresh new meeting place for inner-city residents to catch for a drink after work, as well as creating a forum for Sydney’s art crowd. The Art after Dark Bar would trade six days a week with the aim of reaching both the after work crowd and a second wave of night-time trade to coincide with The Live Art Space.

THE LIVE ART SPACE

The Live Art Space is defined as the space contained in the room furthest from the stairs at the front entrance, bounded by the intervening wall with The Art after Dark Bar. The Live Art Space room provides a multi functional medium-sized live performance space which caters for international and local bands and theatre, as well as a dynamic program of alternate entertainment such as Burlesque, Cabaret, Vaudeville and Theatre.
