Update: Friday Nov 2

We are receiving multiple complaints this morning following the announcement of an exhibition called “Peepin” that was to be featured as part of a band night on November 29.

In light of the comments made about his work, the photographer has assured OAF that his intentions were honourable – all participants in these photos are over 18 years of age, are friends of the photographer and all had signed release forms prior to the exhibition’s announcement.

Despite receiving this clarification from the artist, OAF would like to assert that the exhibition is not in line with our views and will not be going ahead. The photographer has expressed sincere regret for his actions and agreed it would be best to pull the exhibition, stating it was never his intention to demean or sexualise his female subjects. The bands set to play on Nov 29 will continue as scheduled.

Oxford Art Factory deeply apologise for any offence or upset this has caused and we hope it is clear that OAF do not support the objectification or degradation of women. We take full responsibility for allowing this exhibition to be announced before first reviewing its content.
